Vineyard / Winegrowing Mature vines in the best soil and climate

We prefer to think of ourselves as winegrowers, not grape growers, as we are dedicated to creating an environment and culture that allows the vineyard to be fully reflected in the wines we craft.

The Moon Dust Vineyard is nested within the Sebastopol Hills in the coolest area of the Russian River Valley, home to the most desirable Goldridge soils. First planted to vines in 1998, the property consists of four pristine acres of Chardonnay, comprising two individual clones across two blocks. In 2007, the estate was expanded to comprise an additional 11-acres of Pinot Noir, planted to 6 distinct Pinot clones. The Jonive wines are a true reflection of vine maturity, the highest quality soil, a world-class microclimate, organic viticulture, and minimal intervention winemaking.

We are dedicated to organic viticulture, meaning we use no synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fungicides so that you don’t have to drink them, and our people don’t have to be exposed to them. We want to foster a dynamic soil structure that is as biodiverse as possible to provide nutrients to our vines and grapes and more purity of flavor into our wines.

This is all done with our friend and dedicated vineyard expert Matt Stornetta of Stornetta Made vineyard management. Our winemaker, Vance Rose, and Matt tirelessly consult on the best way to grow the most flavorful fruit possible to make the tastiest wine possible.
